Hey lovers! Ever wondered what your wedding celebrant actually gets up to before you walk down the aisle? Spoiler alert: it's not just rocking up with a microphone and a good outfit (although those are both very important).
Let me take you behind the scenes for a sneak peek into a day in my life as a celebrant — a little bit of love, a lot of storytelling, and definitely a coffee...
7:00 AM..ish – Rise & Reformer (Yes, I’m That Pilates Girl)
Okay, confession time: I’m a bit of a Pilates tragic.
So while the world’s still quiet, you’ll find me stretching and pretending the hundred isn’t slowly destroying me. It’s my pre-wedding zen zone, and trust me, a calm celebrant is a good celebrant.
8.30 AM Glam & Go
Even if the ceremony isn’t until later in the day, I like to get prepped nice and early. Steamer in one hand, script in the other – it’s a full vibe. I check my ceremony kit (yes, I have a kit, and yes, it includes tissues, safety pins, and more snacks than strictly necessary).
When it comes to what I wear, I love to bring a little fun with a side of elegance – think a pop of colour, a bit of flair, and something that won’t do a dramatic flip in the wind mid-vows. I’ll always try to wear something that complements your vibe and colour palette – I’m basically the guest who understood the assignment.
Ceremony Time
Whether its a morning or mid afternoon ceremony, I’m already on the road with time to spare. I always arrive early to meet the venue crew, test the mic, and make sure everything is ceremony-ready. I’m also the one helping tie ties, fix buttons, pass tissues, calm nerves, and remind everyone to breathe, part celebrant, part hype girl, part logistics queen.
Showtime, Baby
This is the moment it all comes together, the ceremony we’ve carefully shaped to reflect you. Sure, I’ll guide you through the legal side of things, but the real heart of it? That’s your story.
We take your guests on a little trip down memory lane – the moments that made you laugh, the milestones you’ve shared, and the magic that’s brought you to today. It’s personal, honest, and often a little nostalgic (in the best way).
If we get a few chuckles, a couple of happy tears, and the feeling that everyone just gets your love – then we’ve done it right.
Hugs, Bubbles & Big Love
After the ceremony, I’ll hang back to soak up the good vibes, help rally the troops for a group photo if needed and give you a big celebratory squeeze. I’ll hand over your marriage certificate and quietly slip away before the champagne really starts flowing.
Back to Celebrant HQ
Once I’m home, it’s off with the heels and time to file your legal paperwork (yep, you’re officially hitched!)
Then it’s most likely a vino poured and a little quiet moment to soak it all in. Because honestly? Being part of your day is pretty damn special.
So... What Does a Celebrant Really Do?
It’s more than just reading a few words – it’s about getting to know your story, crafting a ceremony that feels like you, and creating an experience that’s equal parts heartwarming and hilarious.
Being a celebrant means being your storyteller, your sidekick, and your calm in the chaos. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
